Job Description

Position Summary

The IT Head/CTO will be overseeing all technical aspects of the group’s businesses including growing digital news media. Using an active and practical approach, the CTO will direct teams in software engineering, product development, enterprise & newsroom applications, infrastructure & devops, data engineering, analytics and overall technical operations to attain the company’s strategic goals.

The position reports to the Editor & Director.

To ensure success as a Head of IT & CTO, the candidate should exhibit strong leadership skills and extensive experience in related technology driven industries like media, entertainment, telco, e-commerce, software development etc. Remaining customer centric and business focussed, the role demands a mix of business knowledge and strong technological expertise for delivering continuous product innovation.

Lead the company’s technical vision and all aspects of the company’s technological development.

Collaboratively develop, gain consensus, and implement technology roadmaps for Prothom Alo in media technologies such as Web CMS, newsroom workflows, web & mobile apps, data & analytics, e-commerce products & paywall subscriptions, cloud infrastructure, network & security, CDN, product & design

Works in a consultative fashion with other functions such as editorial, marketing and business operations as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness

Lead, mentor and grow an agile, collaborative, self-directed set of development & operations teams

Support and extend the existing application platform, using Continuous Integration and DevOps principles, with a fully automated end-to-end process from development through fully monitored systems in production

Acts as a custodian of the group's resources and ensure control of IT budgets

Effectively articulate technology issues and advise company leadership and key stakeholders on business implications of technology developments and trends

Additional Educational Requirements

Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer sciences, software engineering, technology management. MBA with an engineering background is preferred

Job Requirements

At least 15 years of experience with minimum 5 years in a technical leadership position in media, entertainment, online gaming, e-commerce, telecom or social media industry and currently leading a reasonable size team

Candidate with good software engineering background would be preferred

Experience with media delivery to global audiences using CDNs

Experience managing external vendor relationships and distributed teams

Exceptional problem analyzing skills and designing solutions

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - verbal, written and presentation with ease between technical and business topics

Proficient in written and spoken English

Salary Range

• 300000 to 500000
